Discovering The ABCs Of AdWords

Post on Jun 30th 2008

A) When you choose keywords be sure that they are targeted to your niche market, or product. Sometimes you might just be tempted to go into the search engine database and choose a few top keywords. This is not a good idea, as these keywords will not usually attract your niche market. Instead think about directing your campaigns so that they will attract potential customers for your products and services.

B) Always select your keywords carefully. Remember to target your niche market but also make the keyword general enough to attract traffic. It is always good to bear in mind that you will be paying for clicks even if they do not make any sales. This is what is called pay per click. If you have an ad that is attracting visitors with no sales, you are simply wasting your money.

C) Be aware of the amount you can spend and the worth of your keyword. Of course search engines are savvy and will know how much a high paying click is worth to them. They place the highest bids in the most favorable positions, so you get what you pay for. More money equals more exposure. Theoretically a better position will give both you and the search engines more profits.

However this is often not so, your sales must cover your costs, in order to justify the expense of having a top position. You need to make a fine balance and this can be challenging.

D) It is important to monitor your campaign. Advertisements need to be tracked in detail, after you begin your campaign, to be certain how many sales an ad is producing. You need to be vigilant and adjust your ad campaigns to correct problems, before huge amounts of money are drained from your budget.

Marketing experts know that details in your campaign are important and will check them carefully. You can save yourself both money and time when you find and fix problems early. Your rising sales will be well worth the extra time and effort.

There is no doubt about it Google AdWords is challenging. Bidding and keywords are sometimes hard to learn. However once you know all about the details of your campaign you will be an expert marketer.

So keep these important lessons in mind. Understand their significance so that you can take action. Once you do this you will have the vital keys to Internet marketing success and make the profits you deserve.

Competitors and Local Code Enforcement

Post on Jun 30th 2008

If you are a small businessperson then chances are you have had a situation occur where another small business or larger competitor has used the local Government code enforcement officer to harass you. This is a common occurrence and it is unfortunate that they do not teach this at the SBA seminars.

The good old boy network that occurs in most cities is alive and well in the United States of America. This occurs both in large cities and small towns. Competitors know that if they can get the local code enforcement officer to come over and find a violation in your business that it will slow your business town and therefore give them the edge.

It is too bad that people do not have more integrity than that and too bad it competitors call in competing companies for violations. Of course if you are violating the law he should not be violating the law, but we know that many of the rules and regulations from the municipal level all the way to the federal level are quite onerous and this is unfortunate.

It is literally impossible to follow all the rules or for that matter even know all the rules. In my 27 years in business as a Franchisor, I cannot tell you how many times our franchisees just starting out in their local areas had to deal with competitors who called them into the code enforcement. Often they had done nothing wrong; except step on the toes of an existing businessperson, which was well-connected in the city.

Sometimes, a smart code enforcement officer will realize that the complaint coming in is from a competitor and simply make a visitation to the company or business involved in the complaint. This is an opportunity for you as a small businessperson to talk to the code enforcement officer and ask them if they can help you comply with all the rules.

This way they will explain what the rules are and which rules they are most apt to care about. Being on a first name basis with the code enforcement officer in a local municipality is a smart thing to do for any businessperson.

It is extremely important for you to realize that these things happen and although it may be personal between you and your competition; it is not personal between your company and the code enforcement officer. If you are breaking the law he will have to comply with the law and it behooves you to learn exactly what the law is and the intent so that you can remedy the situation without further problems from the code enforcement officer.

When a competitor makes a false complaint they actually end up hurting themselves and therefore it is unwise to turning your competitors unless they are ripping off customers, polluting the environment or doing something that you know to be harmful to others.

Simply turning in your competitors for a minor violation or infraction will only cause you to have a war with that competitor and just imagine all the different regulatory bodies that there are in our government and what you will do if each one of them comes to visit you during a one month period.

In fact it will be impossible for you to get any work done or make any money. So before you go in turning your competitors remember the Golden rule. Oh and one last thing; if a competitor turns you in for something that means they consider you a threat and that means you must be doing something right. Consider this in 2006.

What Are Good Batting Gloves For Baseball Drills?

Post on Jun 30th 2008

For anyone doing baseball drills, it is a known fact that equipment is a necessary requirement in order to compete. For those who are serious about the game of baseball, good batting gloves for baseball training and in your baseball drills is a key piece that every player needs when behind the plate.

Batting gloves have been around for many years, but have not been very popular until more recently. The idea behind the batting glove is that it helps to take any sting out of the hands from hitting the ball, to provide a better grip on the bat and to help prevent blistering from continuously swinging a bat. Typically, in the earlier days batting gloves were made from thin leather, while these days they are designed not only to help with gripping the bat, but also to provide protection from the bat and from sliding into a plate.

It is not known exactly when the batting glove first came about for regular usage, but it has been thought that Bobby Thompson of the New York Giants was the first player to use batting gloves in a spring training game in 1949. From there, Ken Harrelson was documented in 1964 for wearing batting gloves during a regular season game and Rusty Staub continuously wore them during his games when he played for the Montreal Expos.

Some players may find that using their batting glove inside of their catching mitt also provides comfort and ease for being out in the field. Having the extra protection for catching that stinging ball or gripping will make all the difference on the field when you are active. Although there are many benefits to having a batting glove both behind the plate and out in the field, there are still a number of baseball players who prefer to go without a batting glove. It is all personal preference and some may find that the glove hinders the feel of the bat in their hands as they get ready to hit.

There are a number of manufacturers today that produce batting gloves in all styles and sizes for everyone. They can be bought to reflect individuality of the player themselves since color and style is apparent when sporting gloves. Depending on the style and color you choose, the cost of your batting glove can range anywhere from $10-50 for a pair.

A good batting glove should conform to your hand, with a comfortable fit and include a wristband in order to ensure a proper fit. Many will have padded, heavy-duty leather palms in order to be sustainable for many uses during your baseball drills They will need to be kept clean by putting them out to air after each usage in order to eliminate any damage to the leather from being stored incorrectly.

With any baseball drills a coach may require that all his players utilize batting gloves in order to keep the hands warm and provide protection for the players. During baseball drills, a player may be required to continuously swing a bat and a set of good gloves will help protect those hands from blistering so that the player can continue to train and develop his or her skills accordingly.

We Are Really Sorry For You, But…

Post on Jun 30th 2008

I lost my mobile telephone. The telephone company told me to file a police report and then come down to their office to buy a new phone.

When I arrived, the counter staff member was helpful and understanding. She gave me a discount on my new phone purchase and a free replacement SIM card holding my personal account details. I was pleased and grateful.

Five months later I lost my handphone again! This time I knew what to do. I filed a new police report and went back to the company to buy a new phone.

The counter staff member was helpful and understanding, but she gave me neither a discount on the new phone nor a free replacement SIM card. I asked if she had forgotten, or if the company policy had changed.

She replied, We are very sorry that you lost the phone, and our policy is to give a discount and a free SIM card to make things a little easier for you. But our records show you lost your phone five months ago, and we can only feel sorry for you once a year.

Key Learning Point
——————————————————————————–
Generosity is a good service policy whenever your customers need help. If they need help twice, be generous twice. (No one loses their mobile phone twice on purpose.)

Action Steps
——————————————————————————–
Look for situations where your company policy restricts the flow of generosity towards customers who have a problem. Change the policy. Don’t hold back. Give generously when customers need you. Over time they will reward you.

Whos in Control of Your Customer Service?

Post on Jun 30th 2008

Make the Process Visible

In the 1960s, when the fast food industry was brand new, most restaurants had a wall between the order counter and the kitchen. Customers didnt know how their food was being prepared or how long it would take (or if it had been pre-prepared and resting under heat lamps awaiting an order).

In the seventies, some restaurants took down the wall so that customers could see who was preparing their food, how it was being prepared and about how long it would take. This gave customers psychological control of the order-to-delivery process by making it visible: if customers wished, they could see the process and thereby be mentally involved in it every step of the way. This gave them the feeling of control without actually being in control of the process.

There are several ways you can make your sales process visible for your customers and give them the feeling of control that is so important to them.

Provide your customers with a small, concise booklet which gives a thumbnail sketch (maybe even a colorful flowchart) of each of the steps in your sales process. This booklet should also contain an approximate time the entire process should take as well as the value of each step for the customer. If you dont think through your sales process in these terms from your customers point of view, how can you expect them to want to go with you, a stranger, into unfamiliar territory? They will find many ways to resist your efforts to take them down the road to the sale.

Hyundai gives its retail sales personnel colorful and graphic-intensive booklets which provide a brief explanation of each of the sales process steps. Customers can quickly read and easily understand the Big Picture of what theyre about to go through. They also learn of the sales persons commitment to developing a long-term relationship with the customer to ensure complete ownership experience satisfaction.

Customers are given a sense of control of the process when they know what all is involved, how long it will take and what value there is for them all along the way.

Use the P.T. Barnum method of communication throughout your sales process:

Tell em what youre going to tell em; Tell em; then, Tell em what you told em. When prospects know what to expect, they will be much more willing to give you their time and attention; they will also feel much more comfortable and confident in taking every step of the sale process with you..

For many years, automobile manufacturers have been conducting ongoing, in-depth research to keep abreast of customer wants, needs and expectations. Hyundai Corporation has determined that there are nine core values, or needs, that customers want honored every time they interact with the dealership:

1. Need to feel in control.

2. Need to be treated professionally and respectfully.

3. Need for consultative guidance.

4. Need to feel comfortable and confident.

5. Need to feel valued.

6. Need to have an ongoing relationship.

7. Need for quality product.

8. Need for quality, personalized experience.

9. Need for value added experience.

These core values are not unique to automotive customers. In fact, they are what any retail customer interacting with any business wants, needs and expects.

The first customer core value is: Need to feel in control. Read it carefully: It says, need to feel in control not, need to be in control. In the sales process, if you are meeting the prospect for the first time, it is crucial how you greet him/her. Whether or not you get to move closer to the sale depends upon how well you take this initial step.

However, most prospective customers make it difficult for you to take that first step with flair and confidence. Retail shoppers across the country have loaded their lips in preparation to fire off the usual response familiar to sales professionals everywhere: No thanks, Im just looking.

It is my belief that the primary reason people respond this way (no matter what question the sales person asks) is because they dont want to be led into unfamiliar territory by someone they dont know and dont yet trust. Customers know that sales professionals have an agenda in talking with them in a retail setting. Its not the fact of having an agenda that bothers most people; rather, its not knowing what the content of the agenda is.

At the beginning of any sales process, every customer has at least the following questions in mind, even if theyre not consciously aware of it:

1. What are the steps of the process you will be taking me through?

2. How long will the process take?

3. Whats in it for me to go through this process with you?

When you answer these three questions at the beginning of the sales process, you have given the prospect the feeling of control of the process. Even though you are the one in control of the process, the prospect feels in control by being aware of exactly what the process is, where they are in relation to all the other steps, whats coming next and what the value in each of the steps is for him/her.

When you can answer these three questions at the beginning of the sales process, you will be well on your way to making both a sale and a very happy customer.

Kitchen Mysteries: The Fondue Pot

Post on Jun 30th 2008

One of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the kitchen is the fondue pot. Fondue pots are a popular bridal registry item and they are often given as house warming gifts. But by the time the thank you cards have been sent, the fondue pot has usually disappeared never to be heard from again. They wind up in the back of a closet or in the attic or some are even re-gifted. Why does everyone want a fondue pot but no one ever gets around to making fondue?

Fondue is easy to make. Sure there are some recipes that require sauting vegetables or marinating meat overnight and some use exotic ingredients that you wont find at the supermarket. Those types of recipes taste great but they are the reason that your fondue pot is gathering dust instead of being used.

The key to getting use out of your fondue pot is to pick very simple recipes that are easy to make such as the recipes listed below. One is a basic cheese fondue that substitutes regular Swiss Cheese for the more expensive and harder to find Gruyere cheese. The 2nd recipe is Mocha Fondue, a must try recipe for coffee and chocolate lovers. Once again this is a recipe with basic ingredients and easy instructions.

Swiss Fondue
2 cups dry White Wine
1 Garlic Clove
1 lb Swiss Cheese
3 tbsp Flour
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1/4 tsp White Pepper
Salt to taste
Nutmeg to taste

Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the garlic clove and add clove to pot
Heat up the White Wine & Lemon Juice on medium low heat - should be hot but do not boil
Mix Flour and Cheese in a bowl
Slowly add cheese mixture while stirring
Add remainder of ingredients while stirring
Optional: Add a splash of Kirsch or Blackberry Brandy
To Dip: Italian bread cut into cubes, vegetables, flat breads

Mocha Fondue
8 oz Semisweet Chocolate
1/2 cup Hot Espresso or Coffee
3 tbsp Granulated Sugar
2 tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Chop chocolate into small pieces and set aside
Heat espresso and sugar in fondue pot on low heat
Slowly add chocolate and butter while stirring
Add Vanilla
Optional: Add a splash of Irish Cream
To Dip: Angel Food Cake, Apple Slices, Bananas, Strawberries, Pound Cake, Pretzels, Pineapple Chunks, Marshmallows

Fondue can be easy to make and its definitely fun. The key is to use simple recipes so that you can spend your time enjoying fondue and not worrying about getting a complicated recipe right. Isnt it time that your fondue pot became a permanent fixture on your countertop. You can free up some room for it by moving the crock pot into the closet.

Virtualization 101 — The Basics

Post on Jun 30th 2008

Virtualization is a process that allows one piece of hardware to run a number of operating system images all at the same time. Prior to its inception, the standard for x86 servers was to only run one application to one server. This was fine until more and more servers were needed to meet the growing demands of the IT world, as data center managers were spending millions of dollars on wasted server space.

But now, virtualization has changed everything, for one machine can run a multitude of applications, each isolated into one virtual operating system, completely separated from the others.

As a subsidiary of EMC, VMware popped onto the technology scene in 1998, beginning as a start-up company and soaring to become one of the driving forces in virtualization in just a few short years. In 2005, virtualization technology came in to mainstream awareness faster than anyone could have ever imagined - including many IT experts. Not only did it fly right on through the developmental software stages, it fell headlong into the data center all within a year.

Recent times have seen the IT world look for different means of consolidating that would assist in running their systems more efficiently. Virtualization software from companies such as Platespin was just in time to initiate and capitalize on the momentum for this new technology, seeing nothing short of outstanding adoption rates and customer satisfaction. The latest estimates even show that nearly 75% of all companies with at least 500 employees are installing virtual servers, with nearly half of those who are already utilizing the technology stating that of all new servers purchased, close to half of them will be virtualized.

Other companies besides Platespin have entered the virtualization market as well. Microsoft has had quite a bit of luck creating and marketing its own virtualization software, mostly due to their large customer base. Xen is another, with its software currently breaking into the market. Of course, just like anything else, software is certain to have a kink or two as it passes from a magazine headline to the adoption process, so buyers would do well to go with a trusted name when purchasing a solution

So whats next for virtualization?

Many of the experts claim that management of this in-demand technology is right around the corner, as current users arent mixing and matching technologies, but are simply utilizing them for one purpose- either networking, storage, or systems. If your concerns are related to storage, you would work with storage virtualization. Ideally, all virtualizations of one company would be able to be pooled and be tied together or moved around as needed. As with any new technology, the question of automation has been popping up throughout the conversations of vendors and customers. Is it possible? Yes, it is. Will it happen? I predict it will

You Can Execute a Cash Flow Note Sale With a Top Debt Paper Buyer Online in a Short Period of Time

Post on Jun 30th 2008

A cash flow note sale simply means selling a structured settlement, such as a mortgage or business note, for a single lump sum instead of small monthly payments. There are several reasons you might want your cash now instead of later you may want to invest it somewhere else, buy a house or car, or set it aside for emergencies. Whatever your purpose, cashing in is always a viable option.

Typically, a cash flow notes sale starts with finding a note buyer. The note buyer will evaluate your note based on several factors, such as the balance, interest rate, type of property, and the payors credit. The point is to calculate the risk they will assume when they buy your contract. Interest rates could drop, your buyer could go bankrupt, or they may default on the loan. They make up for this risk by taking some of the value off your notes purchase price. That means a note worth $90,000 might sell for only about $83,000.

But although you wont get the full value of your contract, a cash flow note sale is still more profitable. There is a concept called the time value of money, which says that your moneys present value is always more than its future value. This is because you can invest your money now and start earning interest. By the time the note is paid in full, you would have earned the difference with your investment and with much less risk.

A cash flow notes sale can also be more convenient than a bank loan. You can sell your note in two weeks or less, while a bank will make you wait up to a month as they review your case, assess your credit, and do a dozen other checks. Of course, there will be no obligations either, since you will be selling, not borrowing.

Most people opt to sell the whole contract, but if you still want to receive monthly payments, you can sell just part of the note. A partial cash flow note sale is a good option if you dont need a large amount, or if you want to keep the interest rate on your current contract. It is also possible to sell the whole note but take only part of the lump sum, while receiving the rest in installments. A good note buyer will show you other ways to structure the sale, and help you choose the best plan.

Remember to take your time in choosing a note buyer. Get quotes from several buyers, and stick to professionals who have been in the business for a long time. Experienced buyers will be more flexible and give you more options for your cash flow note sale.

When youve found a good buyer, dont forget to put everything in writing. Any cash flow notes sale should come with a written agreement stating the purchase price, contingencies, and other relevant details. Make sure you fully understand the terms and conditions; ask your buyer to explain anything you dont understand.

Selling your notes is the best way to protect your money and let it grow. You can do a lot more youre your money today than you can tomorrow. With a cash flow note sale, you can take advantage of opportunities to let your money grow.

Wiffle Ball Baseball Teaches Pitching and Hitting Skills and Builds Confidence

Post on Jun 30th 2008

The game of wiffle ball is lots of fun, and teaches many skills that are valuable in baseball and softball. Kids play it because its fun and can be played anywhere. You can play in your backyard, in the street, in a field, on a baseball diamond, and even the beach. The wiffle ball itself is lightweight and wont break any windows, and wont hurt children if a pitch hits them. The wiffle ball bat is lightweight and can be handled by children of nearly any age.

Children that play wiffle ball are actually building their self-confidence. As a pitcher, the wiffle ball will spin, curve, and wiggle in almost any direction. As a hitter, a child gains confidence in swinging the wiffle ball bat and hearing the crack of the bat hitting the ball. All of these confidence-building skills will help when the child plays baseball or softball. You can find books and videos to learn baseball and softball by visiting http://www.2PlayBall.com and you can also learn by doing: so play ball and enjoy the game as you learn more and become better.

Wiffle-ball baseball pitching mechanics and technique:

A pitcher in the game of wiffle ball can throw the ball with spins and curves, depending on the type of pitching grip. Holding the ball differently will cause the ball to be a curveball, slider, sinker, floater, fastball, or any other kind of pitch. Thanks to the lightweight nature of the wiffle ball, a young player can try different stances and pitching mechanics and techniques. A pitcher can throw side-arm or overhead. The pitcher can even switch and use their non-preferred throwing arm. A right-handed pitcher could try pitching left-handed, and a left-handed pitcher could choose to try being a right-handed pitcher. The simple grip of the ball and the lightweight wiffle ball can allow this experimentation.

Wiffle-ball baseball hitting mechanics and technique freedom:

A child who is up at bat with a wiffle ball bat can swing the bat much faster that he/she could with a much heavier bat. This new-found baseball swing freedom can increase a childs confidence and boost batting mechanics and technique.
A right-handed baseball hitter could tryout a left-handed baseball hitting stance. Or, a left-handed baseball hitter could tryout a right-handed baseball hitting stance. A child could become a switch hitter!

Baseball fielding mechanics and technique:

The wiffle ball is not only a tricky ball to hit, it is also very tricky to field. When the wiffle ball is hit in the air, it can spin off the bat and thus fly in a surprising fashion. Once the wiffle ball hits the ground, it will react to any tiny tree branch or pebble on the ground. These quick bounces and direction changes are excellent for practicing fielding techniques for youth baseball players. The child is required to keep their eye on the ball at all times, and they must quickly react to any sudden change in direction. The quick bounce of a wiffle ball hit on the ground will keep a child light on their feet and give them lighting-fast hand reflexes for fielding techniques.

Backyard baseball fun anytime:

A game of wiffle ball builds many skills and coordination for baseball players of all ages. Its easy, its fun, and it can be played anywhere!

Wiffle Ball World Series (excerpt from book)
Benny was a really bad sport. Benny had a front porch that smelled of onions that his mother was storing for some inexplicable purpose. Bunt Young, Bunt Often In Little League
Bunting is a very big part of baseball. And, when a bunt is laid down the right way, it is very difficult to defend. I have always been big on bunting, and feel it can be taught at a young age. Attention to Detail: Pitcher Orientation in Bounce Back Games
Under a microscope, all baseball boils down to is the mechanics of the at-bat. Is the pitcher/batter a left-hander or a right-hander? What is the pitch count of the starting pitcher? What are the balls and strikes to the current hitter? Are there runners on base and in scoring position? We can go on and on.Some teams fare well against right handed ...
