Flexor Carpi Radialis
Post on Jul 19th 2008
Neck pain related to C6, C7 nerve root irritation is common. The median nerve carries the C6 and C7 nerve root fibers to muscles in the front of the forearm including pronator teres. When there is pain and spasm in the muscles in the pronator teres, pain will be felt in the front of the elbow. By the time pain is felt in the front of the elbow, there has been long-standing weakness in the muscles at the back of the elbow and forearm. The muscles in this region are subjected to constant lengthening contractions that make them weak. This then allows for unopposed contraction of the muscles in the front of the elbow and forearm.
Therefore, treatments for elbow pain must begin with selective muscle activation for active contraction of muscles such as the triceps and the muscles at the back of the forearm such as the wad of three (brachioradialis, extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis), extensor digitorum, and the other adjacent forearm muscles. Pronator teres is a second-tier muscle for treatment using selective muscle activation with eToims Twitch Relief method for elbow pain.
Pronator teres superficial head arise from the lowermost and inner aspect (medial epicondyle) of the arm bone (humerus). The deeper head arise from upper end (coronoid process) of the inner forearm bone (ulnar). It inserts into the middle of the outer forearm bone (radius). Its action is to turn the palm backwards if the arm is beside the trunk (pronation).

Jennifer Chu, M.D. emeritus professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, pioneered eToims Twitch Relief Method that utilizes surface electrical stimulation to locate motor points (trigger points). The motor points are then stimulated to induce strong local muscle contractions, termed twitches. This results in reduced muscle pain and discomfort in the areas that were stimulated. The involved pain/discomfort-relieving mechanism is thought to include local muscle exercise and stretch effects. eToims Soft Tissue Comfort Center specializes in diagnosis and treatment which ends muscle discomfort and pain. http://www.stopmusclepain.com
Neck Related Elbow Pain - Role of Wrist Extensor Muscles
Neck pain - elbow pain - extensor carpi radialis longus
Commonly neck pain is due to C5, C6 cervical nerve root irritation. This can produce pain and spasm in the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle which crosses the elbow and therefore pain in the elbow can also be felt by the patient.Extensor carpi radialis longus receives C5 and C6 nerve ro...
Neck Related Elbow Pain - Role of Triceps and Finger Extensor Muscles
Neck pain - elbow pain - triceps
Neck pain due to C7 nerve root irritation is second only to C6 nerve root irritation. Those with elbow pain commonly have C6 and C7 nerve root irritation.Triceps is supplied by the C6-C7 nerve roots, especially C7 root carried through the radial nerve. Pain and spasm in the triceps together with pain and spasm i...
Lower Back Pain - Ankle and Foot Plantar Flexion
Patients with lower back pain due to L5 and S1 nerve root irritation often complain of calf cramps, especially at night. The strong calf muscles are responsible for you to be able to walk on your toes. These muscles are especially important in the push-off phase of walking on level surfaces as well as on inclines and steps. To be able to test the ...
Defeating Painful Symptoms of Trigger Thumb
Trigger thumb is a common repetitive strain injury that can cause significant impairment in hand strength, dexterity, and daily functioning. The condition is characterized by pain, catching or "locking" of the thumb, and can result in difficulty performing everyday tasks. Although there are many organic causes of trigger thumb, environmental fact...
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Stopping the Pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a nerve entrapment disorder that is associated with considerable pain and functional impairment of the fingers and hand. It is also quite common for this condition to refer pain up the median nerve pathway into the elbow, shoulder, upper back and neck.Caused by an imbalance of the muscles that open, close, deviate and rota...
What Are the Causes of Pain in Lower Right Back?
Back pain is a complaint doctors hear about frequently. People want information on backaches. They want doctors to treat pain in the back. Many want to know the causes of pain in the lower right back.Information about the Lower Right BackIt is important to understand the structure of the lower right back if we are to understand what causes pain the...
Brachialis and Brachioradialis in Neck Related Elbow Pain
Brachialis
Neck pain due to C5, C6 nerve root irritation will also lead to pain in the brachialis. The pain will be felt in the front of the arm deep to the biceps muscle with elbow pain.It arises from the lower two thirds of the front of the arm bone (humerus) and attaches to the top of the forearm bone (ulnar coronoid process). The nerve supply...
