Silicone Basting Brushes - The Answer to Many Prayers

Post on Aug 15th 2008

Silicone kitchen products are steadily becoming more popular since their introduction in 2004. New products sometimes seem a fad and are gobbled up eagerly by the consumer, only to find that the promises made by the manufacturer are not met. One of the many silicone products that provide chefs and fine cooks with an advantage is the basting brush. Silicone basting brushes have a number of advantages over traditional basting brushes.

The discussion will be limited to the benefits of the actual brush rather than the handle. The handle is important and needs to long enough for the intended uses and comfortable to use. Most silicone basting brushes (and traditional basting brushes) live up to these expectations. The difference is found in the characteristics of the material, silicone, from which these brushes are made.

Silicone is a high heat resistant material, in fact is a great insulator and does not transfer heat well. Hence for normal cooking temperatures and activities, the brush is not in the heat for long enough times to behave in a bad way it will not melt. Silicone is also a somewhat inert material, in that it does not stain or retain odors.

Silicone is solid yet quite flexible, so that the brush does not easily fray or loose its shape. These characteristics of silicone also make silicone brushes hygienic to use and easy to clean. Most people simply place the silicone basting brushes into the dishwasher for cleaning. Take car if cleaning the silicone brushes in the sink, so that they are not damaged by sharp objects.

They are an ideal kitchen utensil for basting food whilst using either the oven or the stove hot plates. Men have found the silicone basting brush a valuable tool in basting meat whilst grilling or barbecuing - it is almost indestructible when used correctly, even on a grill.

So, why should you use a silicone basting brush Silicone basting brushes will not stain, will not retain odors, will not melt, will not shed or fray the bristles and cleanse up easily in the dishwasher.

Kitchen utensils and accessories can be found everywhere, but silicone utensils are different. For more information about silicone and silicone kitchen utensils go to http://kitchenandkitchenutensils.googlepages.com/
