Silicone Strainer Board - What Is It?

Post on Aug 8th 2008

The designers of the recent batch of new silicone kitchen products from Dexas have come up with a combo unit. The Silicone strainer board is a combination cutting board with a built-in silicone strainer that fits neatly over most sinks.

Silicone is an amazing product that behaves in the same way for all household cooking temperatures. It is heat resistant, stain resistant and odor resistant, making it an ideal material to manufacture products such as trivets, oven mitts, bakeware, colanders, basting brushes and spatulas. Silicone is also flexible across the temperature range providing an additional set of benefits.

The silicone strainer board exploits all the characteristic mentioned above and its unique design provides the following additional benefits:

1. The non-slip handles not only help in holding the board but also grip surfaces to keep the board securely in place during use.

2. The removable silicone strainer basket makes it easier then ever to wash or strain fruits, vegetables, pasta and anything else that needs straining.

3. The collapsible strainer washes clean when collapsed. Durable non-porous, odor resisting board will not dull knives. The unit is dishwasher safe.

4. The silicone strainer basket expands to two and a half quarts capacity and collapses flat (to just a little thicker than the cutting board) for easy storage.

The silicone strainer board measures approximately 22 inches (or 550 mm) wide and 12 inches (or 300 mm) deep. The silicone strainer board is available in both gray and red and will complement any fine kitchen.

It is interesting to see the growth in the types of silicone products, but like any new products there is not much point in acquiring them if they do not make life easier. One benefit that is often overlooked is the cleaning of the products. Silicone products are easy to clean, either in the sink using a soft cloth (no scourers) or simply pop them in the dishwasher.

Be careful to purchase reputable brand silicone products, so that you can reap the benefits of this extraordinary material.

Kitchen utensils and accessories can be found everywhere, but silicone products are different. For more information on silicone and silicone kitchen products go to http://kitchenandkitchenutensils.googlepages.com/
